On 31st March 2018, a protest march was held from Survey Chowk to the Tibetan market in Dehradun to raise a voice against single use plastic and littering in the city.
More than 300 members of the general public and representatives from 20 Dehradun based organisations came together to promote and support the plastic ban in the city.
Despite it being common knowledge that plastic and its by-products are destroying our beautiful city and contributing to health problems in both humans and animals, it’s use is constantly on the rise.
We installed an awareness-raising stall where we shared information about basic waste management practices and segregation at source.
Prominent citizens and leaders from the different organisations showed their support and raised awareness through their inspiring speeches. We are really thankful to Mr. Subhodhi, Director of Pollution Control Board Dehradun, Do No Trash, Making a Difference (MAD), Been There Doon That, Tara Foundation, Chuk Foundation, Pramukh, Eco Task Force, Gati Foundation and all who graced us with their presence at this event.
