Waste Warriors wins a Safaigiri 2018 Award!

Waste Warriors at India Today Safaigiri Award 2018
Good news: Waste Warriors' efforts were rewarded on 2nd October 2018, at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai! India Today presented Waste Warriors Society with a Safaigiri 2018 Award for being a ‘Community Mobiliser’, one of 15 award categories presented to NGOs working across India at the India Today Safaigiri Summit and Awards 2018.

The ‘Community Mobiliser’ Safaigiri award was felicitated by Bollywood actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Radhika Apte. Our Chief Operations Officer, Avinash, had a moment on stage to discuss with them the importance of raising awareness amongst children and adults alike, and collaborating with local municipal and forest authorities to advocate for sustainable solid waste management initiatives. He also highlighted how each of our project teams in Dehradun, Dharamsala, and Corbett Park work hard to teach the public and businesses to segregate their dry and wet waste at source, and how we work towards improving the tough lives of struggling ragpickers in our project areas.

The Safaigiri 2018 awards were then given away by Honorable Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister Of Road Transport And Highways, and Mr. Aroon Purie, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India Today Group, and were presented to our Executive Managing Committee treasurer Gaurav Aggarwal, COO Avinash Pratap Singh, and communications manager Chirag Mahajan.

We are very proud and happy to have received this great award. This recognition as a Community Mobilizer motivates us even more to pursue our actions and encourages us to engage everyone in this fight towards a Clean India! Let's all be Waste Warriors!
