On 15th September 2018 we participated in World Clean Up Day joining 13 million people, in 144 countries doing their bit to clean up their communities. Waste Warriors joined forces with AIESEC India Dehradun who provided 150 volunteers from across the city. Our teams handed out gloves, litter-grabbers, and garbage sacks, and everyone brought some enthusiasm and good spirits. Teams 1 and 2 started from Silver City and headed along Rajpur and Canal Road, while Team 3 started from Poly Kids School in Jakhan.
A big thank you to all of the volunteers, and special thanks to Nagar Nigam Dehradun for supporting our efforts by sending their waste trolleys to assist our volunteers who were carrying heavy waste sacks.
We should all keep in mind that the area we cleaned up is of course a small part of Dehradun and there is so much more work to be done, and we all have to do our best to make sure the levels of environmental awareness – of ourselves and those around us, whether it is our family, friends, and even neighbors – is increased everyday by learning and doing more when it comes to making a difference in our own lives by adjusting the way we buy and dispose of things.
